NE: Red Cloud FFA Members Receive Degrees at National Convention

On October 27th at the National FFA Convention this year the Red Cloud FFA Chapter had three members receive the American FFA Degree, the highest degree that can be bestowed upon an FFA member. Members receiving the degree were Clint Shipman, son of Gary and Darylnn Shipman, Landon Hoffman, son of Wayne and Melanie Hoffman, and Josh Ealy, son of Keith and Kathy Ealy. Gary and Darylnn Shipman made the trip to Indianapolis to witness Clint receiving the degree. Gary was a State Degree recipient in 1968. Receiving the degree for Landon in Indianapolis was his sister Aliese Hoffman, Vice- President of the Red Cloud FFA Chapter. Receiving the degree for Josh was Taylor Neiman.
The Red Cloud Ag Education students attended the Area Range Judging competition held at the National Homestead Monument near Beatrice on September 27th. They had 15 students attend the competition. The top five judgers from Red Cloud were Katie Minnick, Parker Gilbert, Sarah Nolan, Aliese Hoffman, and Pat Hoit. The other judgers that competed from Red Cloud where Brett Rupprecht, Wes Olson, Gary Kok, Nick Campos, Jay Dee Snell, Glen Brumbaugh, Lee Armstrong, Aaron Wescoat, Tyler Haskins, and Kasey Ord.
The Red Cloud Ag Education students also attended the Area Land Judging competition near Trumbull. The competition was held on October 11th. They had 21 students compete and for the 2nd year in a row Red Cloud qualified for state in Land Judging. The team that qualified for State was: Sierra Randall who placed 8th, Pat Hoit placed 12th, Brett Rupprecht placed 39th, and Kasey Ord placed 85th. Some other top judgers we had were Glen Brumbaugh who placed 14th and he received a blue ribbon, Shelby Peters placed 18th and also received a blue; Brittany Lewis placed 71st and earned a red ribbon; David Flesner placed 78th and also earned a red ribbon; Wes Olson placed 84th and received a white ribbon; Parker Gilbert placed 100th and also earned himself a white ribbon. Jay Dee Snell, Lee Armstrong, and Ryan Lammers also earned white ribbons in the competition. The other judgers we had compete were Kelsey Parker, Sarah Nolan, Tyler Haskins, Aaron Wescoat, Art Oberlechner, Brittany Lewis, McKayla Kucera, and Nick Campos.
The state qualifying land judging team consisted of Sierra Randall, Kasey Ord, Patrick Hoit, and Brett Rupprecht.
Community Service Projects
Some members of the Ag I and Ag II classes designed and built bird houses for the residents of Gala Gardens Manor in Inavale. The students made them and then took them apart so the residents could put them together and paint them the way they wanted. Members of the classes were; Hannah Bailey, Holly Rasser, Bethany Shurter, Saundra Jones, Sierra Randall, and Cassie Garvin. They made 10 houses and delivered them on May 16th and showed the residents how to start putting them back together.
