Delayed Harvest Postpones Sorghum Meeting
11/18/2009 12:15:57 PM

LINCOLN – The delays in harvest have forced the Nebraska Grain Sorghum Board to postpone their public meeting originally scheduled for Thursday, November 19, 2009.  The meeting is rescheduled for Tuesday, December 1, 2009 and will be held at the Cornhusker Marriott Hotel located at 333 South 13th Street, Lincoln, NE.  The meeting will convene at 10:30 AM in the Garrat Room on the hotel’s main floor.

In addition to regular Board business, the meeting will include appointment to fill vacancies on the Board, election of officers, and naming of cooperator program representatives for the 2009-2010 Fiscal Year.  Reports will be provided on program activities in the areas of research, market development, producer education and federal legislation.

Information regarding the appointment process or a copy of the agenda is available by emailing sorghum.board@nebraska.gov or by phoning the Nebraska Grain Sorghum Board at 402/471-4276.

The Nebraska Grain Sorghum Board administers the one-cent per hundredweight check-off, which is assessed on all grain sorghum sold in the state.  The board’s annual budget is allocated to the areas of research, market development, producer education and federal legislation.
